As a Manager of Business Support & Operations, Bianca van Uden is responsible for all Executive Assistants. In order to do her job well, she works with Teamleads who manage the teams on a daily basis. ‘What we have to offer really energises me, but what excites me most is what we have achieved so far.’

‘In my career I have worked for all kinds of organisations. In many cases I was in charge of the team of secretaries. I think it’s important to think about your future on a regular basis, so I took a sabbatical 5 years ago. I did not expect that I would join Deloitte afterwards, but I did know that I was looking for a job with responsibility and the opportunity to develop my ideas about service. That’s what I found at Deloitte: it’s a place where I can keep developing myself and where I feel at home.’

It's teamwork

‘At the moment, there are 260 Executive Assistants at Deloitte. Together we make sure that Senior Managers, Partners and Directors get the best possible support – that we can achieve tangible results while there is also room for good discussions and for each other. Because we collaborate so often and we all share our own expertise, we are able to lift the team to a higher level.’

Making a difference with the Teamleads

'For us, it’s key that we are able to make connections and have strong communicative skills. That’s why we often meet up with each EA and discuss the business they work for. We know what’s going on and what we’re talking about. We make sure that we can create a safe working environment for our teams, and are able to offer the best possible customer experience in a world that is continuously changing. That’s because we take responsibility for what we do. We are a professional team focused on growth and development.’

‘Deloitte offers plenty of room for development, and you’re responsible for your own growth. I like that. We are a professional group of people who work hard and who are driven to perform as well as we possibly can, to offer our (internal) clients optimum service. We listen to each other and have a sincere interest in each other. We provide feedback and help each other as much as we can. Also, we make sure that our services keep up with the demands and expectations of our clients.

Work/life balance

‘During my sabbatical I experienced the importance of a good work/life balance. So next to using my brain to come up with quick solutions at work, I also try to engage in other activities. For instance, taking long walks with my dog, and running. Fortunately, Deloitte is also focused on well-being. I can work from home or at the office. Having a good work/life balance is crucial for all of us.’
