Bias plays a large part in everyone’s day-to-day, as it can manifest in various forms and numerous situations. Whether our biases are conscious or subconscious, everyone has them. At Deloitte, we feel that everyone should be able to be themselves. Are you ready to stop your bias thinking?

Prabdeep on Cultural Bias
'I identify with Sikh traditions, and also with the Dutch culture.'
Prabdeep is always open to answering questions. 'If you want to learn more, ask!' We can't make a bridge until we get rid of the lack of understanding. Our society is diverse, with differences in lifestyles, values, and traditions. Let's recognize the differences and see them as strengths.'

Marjolein on Gender Bias
'I'm a compassionate female lead, that is confident, determined and clear.'
Marjolein used to think it would be hard to fit in a leadership position. In time, she realized she could be her full self even in a leadership role. 'We need more examples of diverse leadership styles, especially female ones. For me, it's about being transparent and clear, whilst also making connections.'

Eric on Generational Bias
'I'm approaching retirement, and yet more motivated in my job than ever.'
Who would find meaningful work more important, someone who's 35 or 65? Eric's take is clear: 'It's in everyone's best interest to value people for their skills, not based on biases. Someone with more experience can bring both positives and negatives. Talk about it, but don't assume.'

Merette on the Maternity Wall Bias
'I am a mother and I am also devoted to my professional journey.'
Her Dutch and Zimbabwean heritage has shaped her passion for creating inclusive environments. 'As a mother of 3, I'm more determined than ever,' she says, reflecting on experiences of feeling out of place. ‘Despite the fatigue some may feel towards DEI, I firmly believe in the importance of continuing these conversations.’

Srikar on Neurodiversity Bias
'I cannot spell success, but I can shape it.'
Srikar discovered his dyslexia at 15, making his childhood in India challenging. Over the past 3 years, he has opened up. 'I realized I am wired in a certain way, and it's not my fault.' He feels supported at Deloitte. 'Having conversations about neurodiversity is crucial to avoid losing unique talent.'
