WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVORITE SOCIAL MOMENT AT DELOITTE SO FAR? ‘I liked the new hires bootcamp a lot. All new hires get together and gather an abundance of expertise which is a perfect start for the assignments that will follow. But without a doubt, the Stadswandeling (City Walk) that I co-organised for the CORE team, in Rotterdam and Amsterdam. During this COVID-proof event we were able to together with colleagues take a long walk together and discover the best places in both cities.’ WHAT WERE YOUR FIRST MONTHS AT DELOITTE LIKE? ‘The first weeks were challenging, intense and fun, partly because of the new hires bootcamp that prepared us for our jobs. It helped me tremendously during my first months. Currently, I’m part of the R(x) program which is kind of a traineeship during forall new hires within CORE. We develop ourselves by means of training sessions and learn how to find our way within the organisation. Before I started at Deloitte, I worked at an SME company. I joined Deloitte because I also wanted to focus more on developing myIT Audit skills, which are an important part of how we help clients become more responsible businesses. So far, this has been an excellent choice. I study at the Vrije Universiteit and already have a number of Cloud certificates .’

WHAT DOES YOUR AVERAGE WORKING DAY LOOK LIKE? ‘Currently, I’m mostly involved in IT audits in various industries which allows me to gain experience in different industries and clients. Because of that varietythere’s never a dull moment. Next to IT audits, I’m also focusing on helping client with their Cloud implementations and related controls. Within Deloitte we think it’s pivotal to know at least the basics of the Cloud, so we can offer our clients the service they need. Learning is encouraged. For instance, I have done a number of certificates and an online learning program and participated in various “Industry roadshows” in order to introduce my colleagues who focus on other client industries.’

WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE PLANS WITHIN DELOITTE? ‘Next to developing myself in different aspects of the Cloud, I would also like to further develop myself in the field of IT Risk and IT Audit in relation to the Cloud. In the next few months, I will finish the BIVAO module at the Vrije Universiteit in order to expand my expertise. Subsequently, I would like to do the Post Master ITACA (IT Audit, Compliance and Assurance) which provides you with the RE-title.' WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO, AS SOON AS YOU’RE ALLOWED TO WORK AT THE OFFICE AGAIN? ‘The Stadswandeling gave me a taste of how much fun it is to be around other team members. So I’m most looking forward to working (hard) with them onsite at the office and then, after a busy working week, having a drink with them on Friday night!’ WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SAY TO NEW COLLEAGUES? ‘At Deloitte, anything is possible, but you’re the one in charge of your career. So use your opportunities well!’
