'I am Abhik, a senior consultant within the Business Process Transformation team at Deloitte. Before joining Deloitte Netherlands in August 2019, I was working with Red Hat as a Senior Business Analyst in India. Before that, I worked with Eaton Corp. managing business process improvement for its Hydraulics division, with GE Aviation in win-loss analytics for its Sales & Marketing functions, with HDFC Bank and Just Dial in business development, and with Kantar Group in market research. After having gained experience in various roles within multiple industries for 8 years, I wanted a job where I would have a steep learning curve, would be able to constantly challenge myself and grow both professionally and personally as an individual. On the advice of my elder brother, I decided to give management consulting a shot. I’m happy I took his advice and came to the Netherlands to pursue the MBA program at Rotterdam School of Management that eventually helped me to transition into consulting. Throughout the tenure of the program, I got connected to numerous people working at Deloitte.'

IN WHAT WAY HAS DELOITTE SURPRISED YOU? 'Since the first day, I’ve been surrounded by smart and ambitious coworkers who have been eager to support me and set me up for success. The leadership is always interested in providing the opportunity to choose the type of work that not only leverages my skills and experience but also aligns with my goals and learning aspirations. One thing about Deloitte I must say – it is a lot bigger than I imagined it would be in every sense of the word.'

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE UP TO NOW? 'Before joining Deloitte I had a background in the industry, so getting used to the different world of consulting was my biggest challenge. From day one, you are engaging with senior stakeholders and clients who expect you to get a quick understanding of their problems by asking the right (often tough) questions and help them solve those. The biggest challenge of being consultants is not only that we need to solve difficult issues for our clients, but also that we need to solve them together with the different client stakeholders who might view the same issues from a different perspective. It is our job, and a very critical one too, that we secure the buy-in of those stakeholders involved in the project to make it a success in the end.'

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE BPT TEAM? 'After having managed and optimized multiple business processes through the later years of my career, it made the most sense for me to join BPT. It’s a team full of amazing and highly skilled coworkers who have been helping big and small clients for years to run, optimize, and grow their core operations. The team has a strong focus on the financial service and public sector industries that emphasizes on transforming and improving vital customer processes.'

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT BPT? 'My biggest learning point at BPT so far is how we are increasingly using new technologies such as Process Mining, Robotics, Chatbots, Cloud, IoT, you name it. It's fun to work with innovative technologies and inspiring to be part of a team where people have a close bond, are always willing to help each other succeed.'

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SAY TO A FUTURE COLLEAGUE? 'I’m very proud to be a part of Deloitte, the biggest consulting firm in the world.
