What has been your favorite social moment since you have been working at Deloitte? ‘From a young age, I've always been on ski vacations with my family, preferably as many times as possible during the year. So when I heard about the RiSki (Risk Advisory Ski Trip), I signed up immediately. Since then I haven't missed a single edition and of course I hope we can go again next year! This is exactly why I like working for Deloitte so much: you get the opportunity to do very cool projects as well as other fun things and meet new people.’ Why did you choose Deloitte as your employer? ‘My choice was mainly based on the corporate culture and the opportunities for growth. We have an informal, friendly and open culture and I still experience it that way. Deloitte also offers the opportunity to develop yourself in different areas. Courses for training soft skills to feel more comfortable during presentations and to improve your technical skills are both offered by Deloitte. Among other things, I have obtained a SAP certification, but also followed the RE training and many more. What also appealed to me is the diversity in Responsible Business assignments. In either way, SAP is a very diverse field and because it changes a lot, it also remains challenging. So you won't get bored easily!’

Can you tell us a bit more about your career development during your working experience at Deloitte? ‘In 2015, I started fresh from the University. I worked on a number of IT audits and broader Risk Management consulting projects. Soon I got the opportunity to attend a SAP training and that's where it all started for me. After that training, I first did several SAP IT audits, but soon also got the opportunity for a consulting assignment. This allowed me to learn hands-on much more about SAP controls, and also about roles, rights and other security concepts. I immediately found this challenging and I started to focus more on this. After obtaining SAP certification and following various courses (including one in Barcelona at our center of excellence), it was clear to me that I enjoy assignments in the area of SAP controls and authorizations the most. In the past years I have implemented new control frameworks, changed and improved entire authorization concepts, but I have also been a Change Manager during a large implementation. I am also the Client Account Manager for one of our strategic clients in the Netherlands. Together with the accounting team, which is a broad-based team in Deloitte, we help and support the client to achieve their strategic goals. In doing so, I have been able to learn many new things, which keeps work dynamic and ensures that I can continue to develop myself.’

What are you most proud of? ‘I am most proud of the growth around our SAP assignments. We have grown from a few specialists to a large diverse group within a couple of years, where there is room for everyone with a passion for SAP and Risk. I am also proud of the growth I have experienced myself. Six years ago, I had no idea what exactly I wanted to do with my career. In recent years I have learned a lot, both on a technical level and on a personal level. I have found my niche, I do what I do best and I get a lot of energy from my work.’ You have a focus on SAP, why do you get so much energy from this? ‘We are a super fun and diverse team. There is also room for fun outings, such as the annual summer barbecue and of course the regular Friday afternoon drinks. Last year, this was a bit tricky but we made sure (from a distance) that we still do fun things. We made vlogs of our workplace and shared them during our weekly team meetings, but also took beach and city walks when the situation allowed. Because the team is so diverse, there is something for everyone. Together we ensure results, but also a good time. SAP - Simply Awesome People, it's really true.’
