SO FAR, WHAT HAS YOUR CAREER AT DELOITTE BEEN LIKE? ‘I started as a working student, since I wanted to combine my Master education with relevant working experience. My passion for IT and my background in business administration drew me towards Deloitte. I quickly felt that this was the place to be for me, because of the personal attention and the responsibilities you get from the start. So it made total sense that I was going to write my thesis at Deloitte. During this period I considered various options to start as a consultant. The connection with my colleagues was very important to me, as was the opportunity to develop myself in a number of directions. At Deloitte, you can become a professional who is valuable for any type of organisation. Since September 2020, I have been working fulltime as a consultant with a high degree of responsibility. Passing on my expertise to new hires energizes me a lot.’

WHAT WOULD BE A TYPICAL WORKING DAY FOR YOU? ‘My working day often starts with a stand-up meeting for the project I’m involved in. We discuss the status quo of the various parts and whether there are aspects that deserve more attention. Subsequently I focus on my assignments, switching between my team and the client. Client meetings provide a great perspective on the processes within a business and on the risks we need to cover with our Assurance assignments. In the afternoon I’m doing all-round activities, joining a number of projects in various industries. Variety is fun! Also, I often attend industry-wide meetings in which the status of our projects is being discussed. I like this a lot, as it gives me an overview of the projects in the industry and an opportunity to join them.’

WHAT ARE YOUR AMBITIONS? ‘Currently, I’m doing the first part of my advanced training (Post-Master IT Audit, Compliance and Advisory - RE) at the VU. I work four days and study one day. During this education, we learn more about how information is organised within various types of organisations, and about (cyber) security. My ambition for the next few years is to learn as much as possible about the fields I work in, so I can add value to the projects and pass my expertise on to my colleagues. I would also love to share my knowledge in support of the Deloitte Impact Foundation. As a professional, you get the chance to make an impact at societal projects, for instance for non-profit organisations.’ WHAT HAS IMPRESSED YOU MOST AT DELOITTE SO FAR? ‘Over the last few months I was deeply involved with the Young Risk Events, including the organisation of these events. Within the Young Risk community, qualities such as respect, honesty, development and well-being are vital. Since most team members are young professionals, we make sure that they can get connected through a number of activities. This varies from sports events such as golfing, boxing, and mountain biking to social activities such as cooking and painting workshops and networking events, e.g. sales trainings. I’m also involved with the Young Risk Leadership Team, which aims to involve young professionals with the execution of our strategy for a sustainable future. On the one hand, we are a sparring partner and strategic partner, on the other hand we are a point of contact for our young professionals. I like being part of this and committing myself to these activities.’
