As Legal Engineer, you will work with a technology stack that combines leading third-party platforms, purpose-built internal tooling developed in close collaboration with Deloitte's AI engineers, and emerging AI solutions. You will not just use these tools; you will create them. In this role, you will work closely with AI engineers and the tax specialists of our team and other member firms. With your personal strengths, view of the world and unique personality. You need the following qualifications for the position of Legal Engineer | M&A Tax

  • a Master's degree in Tax Law, Tax Economics, or Tax Technology
  • fluency in both professional English and Dutch
  • 1–2 years of experience in an M&A environment, with a solid understanding of deal dynamics and the role of tax within them
  • an entrepreneurial mindset: you are confident challenging the status quo, take initiative, think independently, and are comfortable making decisions
  • a critical and analytical approach to problems, combined with the curiosity to keep learning
  • a genuine and intrinsic interest in AI and an interest in the evolving role of technology in professional services
  • tangible experience with prompt engineering, workflow engineering, or agent engineering is preferred

What impact will you make?

You will join a dedicated team of two within Deloitte's broader M&A Tax practice in Amsterdam. Your work sits across two areas:

  • Internal: identifying use cases, draft development plans, and building the tools and workflows for these use cases together with the tax specialists and computer scientists that make our team more effective across the full deal lifecycle; and
  • Client-facing: contributing to the development and delivery of technology-driven solutions that create tangible value for our clients, including in direct client and partner-led settings
